Of course you can use regular butter in stead of the duck fat.
The duck fat will add a bit more flavor to your potatoes; goose fat will do the same.

Potatoes pan fried in duck fat

The ingredients for potatoes pan fried in duck fat:

  • 400 gram potatoes; in slices
  • 40 gram duck fat;
  • sea salt; grinded

How to make potatoes pan fried in duck fat?

  1. Boil the potatoes for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Grab a new pan.
  4. Add the duck fat to the pan.
  5. Heat your pan on a high heat until the duck fat has melted.
  6. Add the potatoes to the pan. Note: make sure you only add one layer and the potatoes don't cover eachother! If the potatoes don't fit in one layer either use an extra pan or fry in different turns. Bake the potatoes on a high heat until colored and crispy; this should take around 4 minutes a side.
  7. Remove from pan and set aside.
  8. Flavor with the sea salt
  9. Your dish is ready, enjoy!
